Chitarrista autodidatta.
Inizia a suonare nel 1973; fino ai primi anni ’80, si dedica alla chitarra acustica.
Dopo una “parentesi elettrica", dalla metà degli anni '90 ritorna alla sua vera passione: l’acustica.
Compositore, propone brani originali arrangiati per una o più chitarre.
Nelle sue composizioni s'incontrano richiami sonori del nord e del sud; i suoi brani sono immersi in un sound che porta con se una miscela di tradizione celtica, mediterranea e blues, passando anche attraverso la tradizione popolare italiana.
Ha studiato teoria ed armonia col M° Luca Trevisan.
Ha perfezionato il flatpicking con Beppe Gambetta.

E’ “artists & friends” della SR TECHNOLOGY, azienda italiana leader per l’amplificazione degli strumenti musicali, del gruppo svizzero Schertler.
È endorser per PIRAZZI STRINGS Germany, storica azienda che opera nel settore delle corde dal 1798; Nicolò Paganini utilizzava le loro corde.
È endorser per BACHMANN GUITARS e EVIDENCE AUDIO.
Ha collaborato per lo sviluppo delle corde “Round Core” con la DOGAL strings di Venezia.

Ha all’attivo partecipazioni al Roxy Bar di Red Ronnie, e si è esibito in svariati festival acustici tra cui Acoustic Guitar International Meeting di Sarzana, Acoustic Franciacorta, Madame Guitar, Soave Guitar Festival, Musikmesse, Galliate Master Guitar, Un Paese a Sei Corde, ADGPA Covention, Bachmann Acoustic Festival…
Ha collaborato col Teatrocontinuo di Nin Scolari e con l’attrice Elena Bucci presso il Teatro Junghans di Venezia.
Ha scritto e proposto dei brani alla cantante Elisa.
Dopo una collaborazione didattica col portale web Laster.it, dal 2011 è iniziata quella con Guitarnews.it.
E' uno dei tre chitarristi scelti da Taylor Guitars per rappresentarne il marchio durante la XIV edizione dell'A.G.I.M di Sarzana.

Nel 2004 partecipa al progetto "36", un doppio compact pubblicato dall’etichetta fingerpicking.net, che raccoglie brani di 36 chitarristi acustici.
Con la stessa etichetta discografica, ha pubblicato il cd "Il profumo dell'acqua", un disco interamente acustico; la presentazione ufficiale è avvenuta alla IX edizione dell’ “Acoustic Guitar International Meeting" nel mese di Maggio 2006.

E' del 2009 la partecipazione al progetto discografico “34 Volte Amore”, una raccolta delle più belle canzoni d'amore italiane arrangiate per chitarra.
Ha pubblicato il nuovo album "L'albero della vita Tree of life" che è stato presentato in molti Festival internazionali e recensito su diverse riviste di settore.

Collabora con l’associazione no-profit benefica Wine Guitar Clan (WGC).
Con questa iniziativa, ha partecipato a concerti in tutto il nord Italia.

Oltre all’attività concertistica e compositiva, svolge un’intensa attività didattica.

A self-taught musician, he began to play the guitar in 1973. Until the early Eighties his main focus was on the acoustic guitar, but then he experienced what he now calls "my electric period", before returning in the mid-Nineties to his first love, the acoustic guitar.
He composes and arranges songs for one or more guitars.
His compositions contain both northern and southern influences, with a sound that combines hints of the Celtic tradition, a strong Mediterranean flavor touched with Blues and echoes of the Italian folk tradition.
He studied music theory and harmony with M° Luca Trevisan.
He improved himself flatpicking with Beppe Gambetta.

He is a "artists& friend" of SR TECHNOLOGY, the leading Italian producer of amplifiers for musical instruments and member of the Swiss group Schertler.
He is also a testimonial for PIRAZZI STRINGS Germany, a historic producer of strings since 1798 (Nicolò Paganini was one of their clients).
He also endorses BACHMANN GUITARS and EVIDENCE AUDIO.
He cooperated with DOGAL strings of Venice in the development of their "Round Core" strings.

He participated in the Roxy Bar with Red Ronnie, and at a number of acoustic guitar festivals such as the Acoustic Guitar International Meeting of Sarzana, Acoustic Franciacorta, Madame Guitar, Soave Guitar Festival, Musikmesse, Galliate Master Guitar, Un Paese a Sei Corde, ADGPA Covention, Bachmann Acoustic Festival…
He has worked with the Teatrocontinuo of Nin Scolari and with the actress Elena Bucci at the Junghans Theatre of Venice.
He has written and proposed a number of songs for the Italian pop star Elisa.After collaborating as a teacher with the web portal Laster.it, in 2011 he began collaborating with Guitarnews.it.
He is one of the three guitarists chosen by Taylor Guitars to represent the brand during the 14th edition of the A.G.I.M at Sarzana.

In 2004 he participated in project "36", a double compact disk for the fingerpicking.net label, that contains pieces by 36 acoustic guitarists.
For the same label, he made the CD "Il profumo dell'acqua" (The Fragrance of Water"), a disk entirely devoted to the acoustic guitar; the official presentation took place during the 9th edition of the "Acoustic Guitar International Meeting” in May 2006.
In 2009 he participates in the project “34 Volte Amore” (“Love times 34”), a collection of the greatest Italian loves songs in arrangements for the guitar.
His latest album "L'albero della vita Tree of Life" has just been presented at several international music Festivals and has been reviewed in various specialised publications.

He cooperates with the non-profit association Wine Guitar Clan (WGC).
With this initiative he has played in concerts throughout northern Italy.

In addition to composing music, Alberto Caltanella gives numerous concerts and is also very active in teaching.
